Tolerance

It seems that the Christian religion is constantly under attack.  When Al-Qaeda blows up the twin towers in the name of Islam (and granted, they are a bastard wing of Islam, not true followers of the religion), and then they want to build a Mosque literally on top of ground zero using public funds when people are outraged, and not wanting to reveal their other financial sources, we need to be "tolerant".  It's a hate crime to hate Muslims.  You have every activist telling us to love and embrace a Muslim, because they are not terrorists.  You have whack jobs like Joy Behar and MSNBC giving Muslim leaders and their other followers the benefit of the doubt that they are not terrorists, but more importantly, laying no accountability on them to reign in their extremists.  Yet, when a Christian nut job, like the guy in Florida wanting to burn a bunch of Koran's, or the freaks from that Westboro Baptist church, then everyone talks about how a Christian is a far right extremist wanting to impose their will and beliefs on everybody.  Where's the people who say "give the other non-extreme Christians a chance", where is the message of tolerance for the other true believers of that religion?  A friend of mine on Facebook made a comment, and one of the responses to it was "Christians are what's wrong with this country".  That comment is a post for another day, but shows the mentality out there.

Face it people, you're going to have extremists wherever you go.  What you can't do is label everyone into one group.  More importantly, you don't get to pick which sect, organization, religion or whatever you want to label as evil, unless proved otherwise.  If you're tolerant of one, you must be tolerant of the other.  I get asked if I'm anti-Muslim, and the answer is no.  Do I believe in their religion?  No.  Do I have harsh feelings against Muslims for what happened on 9/11?  No.  Am I skeptical of Muslims?  Yes.  I don't think all Muslims are terrorists, but I think a lot like to play the race card and hide behind it while they plot.  Every time I see a Muslim I don't get suspicious and keep an eye on them, but the organization as a whole, yeah, I question.  I am a Christian openly calling out my religion's extremists, denouncing them.  I have not heard that from many Muslims.  Even those that do also have gone on record as saying they can't condemn or are happy about the attacks.  It's not a two way street people.  We live in a world that has many shades of gray, but this is one topic that is black and white.  You're tolerant or your not.

Which are you?

First Entry

Time to be afraid....I am now blogging.  I am now no longer confined to the limited space on Facebook!  Feel free to read, will be making posts from time to time.  They will range from my opinions on pretty much anything, feel free to argue with me, but in a respectful way.  It is possible for 2 people to have differing opinions and still be civil and friendly.  I will talk about my personal journey from obesity to where I am at now, and the continued struggle.  I will talk about my faith, I am a Christian and am not ashamed by it, I don't hide behind it, I defend it.

I'm excited about this!
